The National Veterans Foundation

National Veterans Foundation

  • Since 1987, The National Veterans Foundation (NVF) has operated the only toll-free, live crisis management and information and referral hotline for ALL veterans and their families.

As veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan return to face the lifelong challenge of “coming home” to civilian life after experiencing the horror of war, the NVF’s “Lifeline” is needed now more than ever before. And, since crisis knows no regular schedule, we are continuously focused on expanding our outreach efforts, call center staff, and hours of operation.

The NVF is staffed by a team of veterans (from Vietnam, the Cold War, Desert Storm, Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan) who are specially trained in the delivery of crisis information and referral services, as well as a team of licensed volunteer counselors to whom all crisis calls are routed. Veterans come to NVF seeking assistance with medical treatment, substance abuse or PTSD Counseling, VA benefits advocacy, food, shelter, employment training, legal aid, or suicide intervention.

NVF is also committed to preventing veteran homelessness. According to a 2007 National Alliance to End Homelessness report, 25% of America’s homeless are veterans, nearly 200,000 veterans are homeless on any given night, and more than 300,000 will experience homelessness over the course of a year.

You can help! Support our returning troops from Iraq and Afghanistan, and honor America's veterans, by donating to NVF today.
